Avneet and Avnoor Sidhu

Avneet and Avnoor Sidhu’s mother, Sarbjit Kaur Sidhu, lost her life when the work van she was travelling in collided with two semi-trucks near Mission on March 7^th, 2007. The accident killed three other women travelling in the van, and fourteen additional farmworkers suffered injuries that resulted in permanent disabilities.

Each year since the accident, Avneet and Avnoor have spoken at a candlelight vigil about what they have lost and how we can all collectively make changes to improve workplace health and safety. Avneet, Avnoor, and their father have made it their life’s mission to work with the BC Federation of Labour and WorkSafeBC to help ensure that workers are able to come home safe at the end of the day.
